DESIGN ENGINEERING

AFI’s four (4) design engineers have over 50 years combined experience with the design and tool build of Aerospace and IGT tooling. Our main focus is on HP & LP airfoil turbine engine components. These include blades, vanes, shrouds and structural components. Our tool design requires an electronic model from the turbine engine producer or investment casting house. AFI engineering takes the model and then incorporates the required shrink bands along with split lines and gate feed schemes into the design for formal customer approval prior to beginning the actual tool build. For older parts without an electronic model AFI engineering can create a new model based on the customer provided B/P for minimal costs.

TOOL BUILDING

AFI employs ten (10) journeymen toolmakers with over 200 years combined experience. We provide wax injection dies, ceramic core dies, plastic injection molds, fixtures and gauges for the Aerospace and IGT turbine engine industry for foundries within the USA.

In addition to the aerospace and IGT market sector, we also manufacture tooling for automotive part producers located within Michigan. Based on the extensive experience of our employee base and our national accredited approvals for procedures, our customers associate Aero Foil International with the highest quality workmanship standards for Aerospace, IGT and automotive tooling.

Our national accreditations include: AS9100 (ISO9002) and NADCAP for EDM.

MACHINING

AFI currently offers multi-axis CNC EDM, CNC speed hole EDM drill, CNC mill, CNC grind and CNC turn machining for the Aerospace and IGT castings produced at investment casting foundries for turbine engine producers. Our machining capabilities range from simple CNC Mill or EDM gate removal to full airfoil machining, welding and fabrication of engine ready aerospace and IGT components.

CMM INSPECTION

AFI provides quality CMM inspection using our certified manual and DCC CMM’s in house to ensure the highest standard quality tooling and machining in the industry. We also provide this service to tooling shops and machine houses in need of a certified tool or part inspection. We use PCDIMIS software.
